I'm so excited to unveil 3 new pieces — a Chumash mural and 2 companion columns at the Cabrillo High School Aquarium in Vandenberg Villiage! The Chumash Kelp Forest mural tells the story "Coyote rescues ʼanič'apapa (Sharp Shinned Hawk)" and honors the rich marine life of the Channel Islands which was a source of food, regalia and celebration for the Chumash. The columns illustrate the marine ecosystems and food chain.
This student-run aquarium is a true Central Coast gem, free and open to the public, run almost entirely by high schoolers who care for the exhibits and lead visitors through hands-on marine science.
